At Amana we strive to use natural, herbal and time tested for safety and efficacy ingredients as much as possible. Although we are not strictly an ayurvedic manufacturer, we got our inspiration from Ayurveda and some of our ingredients are ayurvedic.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India.

It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health, not fight disease. But treatments may be geared toward specific health problems.

Those who practice Ayurveda believe every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth.

These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas. They control how your body works. They are Vata dosha (space and air); Pitta dosha (fire and water); and Kapha dosha (water and earth).

It is believed that every skin problem derives from the imbalance of the doshas. Certain herb and other natural ingredients concoctions help tackle this imbalance.

It may all sound a bit airy fairy, but Ayurveda has consistently proven clinically effective at treating auto-immune disease, such as psoriasis, much more effectively then ‘traditional’ medicine.

At Amana we proudly use:

Ayurvedic ingredients  such as camomile, vanilla pods, mango butter, aloe vera gel,  coconut oil and sandalwood (rakta chandal) powder in order to achieve the desired result like skin re-balancing or anti-ageing.

Ayurvedic principles. For example if the skin is prone to redness and irritation we recommend white and pink clay containing cooling minerals, dispersed in cooling aloe vera gel. It’s all about the right balance.
